Pas­toral Care and Discipleship

Ded­i­ca­tions — Ded­i­ca­tion of chil­dren involves three infor­ma­tion ses­sions using spe­cially designed pre-dedication coun­sel­ing material.

Funeral and Memo­r­ial Ser­vices — Fam­i­lies or indi­vid­u­als need­ing assis­tance with funer­als or funeral plan­ning may dis­cuss this with the corps officer.

Mar­riage Min­istry — Wed­dings are con­ducted fol­low­ing pre-marital coun­selling by the corps officer(s).

Prayer Min­istry — Prayer is the back­bone of the Chris­t­ian life. At York­min­ster, the Sun­day morn­ing Prayer Gath­er­ing offers inter­ces­sory prayers in a group set­ting. Prayer requests may be left in the Prayer Box at the back of the sanctuary.

Vis­i­ta­tion Min­istry — Car­ing for oth­ers is cen­tral to life as a Chris­t­ian. There is oppor­tu­nity to express your faith through vis­i­ta­tion in pri­vate homes, retire­ment res­i­dences, nurs­ing homes and hos­pi­tals and through help­ful­ness to those in need. Vis­i­ta­tion train­ing is pro­vided. This is also referred to as the League of Mercy.

Grow­ing in our knowl­edge of God and the abil­ity to live our faith is what the Chris­t­ian life is. For­mal instruc­tion helps with this discipleship.

Bible Study — There are sev­eral oppor­tu­ni­ties to study and learn the Bible in a small group set­ting. These groups meet at the church and in homes. All groups are open to newcomers.

Library — Shar­ing the depth of Chris­t­ian resources that help us under­stand, share and grow in our faith.

Mem­ber­ship Classes — These are avail­able for those wish­ing to become Junior or Senior Sol­diers. Ori­en­ta­tion classes about York­min­ster Citadel and The Sal­va­tion Army for Adher­ents and new­com­ers are also available.

Fel­low­ship

Seniors Group — Keep­ing active is impor­tant to seniors. This group meets biweekly and all seniors are welcome.

Young Peo­ple — Var­i­ous clubs and sports teams pro­vide activ­i­ties for church mem­bers and their friends.

Women’s Fel­low­ship — A num­ber of activ­i­ties are pro­vided with women espe­cially in mind.
